What is a business security camera system?

A business security camera system is a set of commercial cameras connected to a recorder or cloud platform that stores video and lets authorized people watch live or review footage. The goal is not more cameras, it is usable evidence: faces at the door, plates at the gate and clear views of the areas where problems happen.

Turner Security plans, installs and services commercial camera systems for businesses across Middle Tennessee and the Chattanooga area. Systems can be watched live by our monitoring partners and upgraded with AI video analytics.

Choosing the right camera

The details that decide whether video is usable

Most camera problems come from choosing the wrong camera for the spot, not from the brand. These are the specs we match to each view during the walkthrough.

Resolution for the job

Higher resolution helps when one camera covers a wide lot. For a face at a door, placement and distance matter more than megapixels.

Wide dynamic range

Doors, dock bays and storefronts with bright daylight behind them need WDR, or people turn into silhouettes.

Night performance

Infrared range has to reach the far side of the lot, and parking lot lights should not wash out the image.

Lens and field of view

A wide lens shows the whole room. A narrow lens identifies the person at the register. Many sites need both.

Housings and mounting

Vandal-resistant domes at reach height, weather-rated housings outdoors and solid mounts away from vibration.

Analytics-ready

Cameras that can run smart alerts or feed AI video analytics and license plate recognition later.

Who installs your cameras

Licensed local crews from Smyrna and Chattanooga

Turner Security has served Tennessee businesses since 1976 and holds Tennessee Alarm Contracting Company licenses #319 and #1998. The company has been BBB Accredited since 1993 with an A+ rating.

The same local crews handle the walkthrough, the install and later service. Our help desk resolves most service issues remotely, we can often schedule a visit the same day you call, and there is no long-term contract.

What we set up

Cameras placed for evidence, not decoration

We start by asking what you need to see and why. Then we choose the camera, lens and mounting spot for each view.

Entrances and reception

Cameras at eye level and door height so you get faces and clear identification of everyone coming and going.

Parking lots and gates

Wide views of lots and fence lines, plus cameras aimed to read vehicles and plates at gates and drive lanes.

Loading docks and yards

Coverage of docks, trailers, equipment and outdoor inventory, day and night.

Warehouse and production floors

Views of aisles, high-value storage and work areas to support safety reviews and loss prevention.

Remote viewing

Watch live video and search recordings from your phone, with user permissions for managers and staff.

Existing camera health checks

We find blind spots, failed cameras and recorders that stopped recording, and fix what can be reused.

Why it matters

Most camera systems fail at the moment you need them

The common story: something happens, you pull up the video, and the camera was pointed the wrong way, the image is too dark or the recorder quit weeks ago. Good planning and regular support prevent that.

We size each system for the views you need and the length of time you need to keep video, and our help desk can check on most camera and recorder problems remotely before sending a technician.

  • Clear identification at doors and gates
  • Video you can search from your phone
  • Recording time sized to your needs
  • Ready for live monitoring and AI alerts

How it works

From site walk to clear video

One local team from the first visit to ongoing service.

Site walk

We walk the property with you and mark every view you need, inside and out.

Camera plan and proposal

You get a plan with camera locations, recording and viewing options, and a clear price.

Install and aim

Our crews run cable, mount and aim each camera, and confirm image quality day and night.

Training and support

We set up your app and users, show you how to find footage, and stay available for service.

Recording

On-site recorder, cloud or both

An on-site NVR or VMS server keeps full-resolution video for a set number of days without depending on the internet. Cloud recording keeps footage off site so it survives a stolen or damaged recorder and lets you watch every location from one app. Many businesses use a hybrid: full-time local recording plus cloud for the most important views.

Retention is a business decision. Break-ins are usually found the next morning, but damage disputes, injury claims and HR issues can surface weeks later, so pick a retention period that covers the slowest of those for your business. Our guide to NVR vs DVR vs VMS explains the recorder options.

  • How many days of video you need to keep
  • Upload speed available for cloud cameras
  • Who can view, export and download clips
  • What happens to recording during a power or internet outage
Brands we install

The right camera platform for the site, not one brand for everyone

We install and support cameras and video platforms from manufacturers including Avigilon, Axis, Hanwha Vision, Bosch, Alibi, ExacqVision and Eagle Eye Networks, and can often work with cameras that are already on your walls. See the full list on our partners page.

Comparing quotes

How to compare security camera proposals

Turner has served Tennessee businesses since 1976 from offices in Smyrna and Chattanooga. We don't require long-term agreements, our help desk resolves most camera issues remotely, and we can often schedule an on-site visit the same day you call.

  • Each camera listed by location and what it needs to show, not just a total count
  • Camera model, resolution and night range for each view
  • Recorder or cloud plan with the retention days written down
  • Who programs remote viewing and user access
  • Whether existing cameras and cable are reused where they still work
  • What service looks like after the install, and whether a long-term contract is required
Common questions

Questions we hear a lot

Who does commercial security camera installation near Nashville and Chattanooga?

Turner Security has served Tennessee businesses since 1976 and installs commercial security cameras from offices in Smyrna (Nashville and Middle TN) and Chattanooga. We plan coverage for entrances, lots, docks and registers, install the cameras and recorder, set up phone viewing, and support the system after install. There are no long-term contracts, and we can often schedule service the same day you call.

How much does a business security camera system cost?

Cost depends on how many cameras you need, indoor or outdoor mounting, cable runs, and how long you need to store video. We do a free site walk and give you a written proposal with a clear price before work starts.

How many cameras does my business need?

It depends on your entrances, lot, docks and high-value areas. We plan from the views you need, not a set number, so you are not paying for cameras that do not add useful coverage.

Can I watch my business cameras from my phone?

Yes. The systems we install let you watch live video and search recordings from a phone, tablet or computer, with separate permissions for each user.

How long is security camera video stored?

That depends on the number of cameras, resolution and how much storage the recorder or cloud plan has. We size storage to the retention you need, whether that is a couple of weeks or longer.

Can you add to or fix my existing camera system?

Usually, yes. We check your current cameras, cabling and recorder, keep what still works and replace only what needs it. AI video analytics can also be added to most existing systems.

Can someone watch my cameras after hours?

Yes. With live video monitoring, agents watch your cameras during the hours you choose and can speak through on-site speakers to stop trespassers.

What should I look for in a commercial security camera installer?

Ask for a camera-by-camera plan that says what each view needs to show, the retention days in writing, who sets up phone viewing and user access, and what service looks like after the install. Turner Security covers all of that from offices in Smyrna and Chattanooga, and the same local crews handle the walkthrough, the install and later service.

Should business cameras record to the cloud or an on-site recorder?

It depends on your internet upload speed, how long you need to keep video and how many locations you have. On-site recorders keep full-resolution video without relying on the internet, while cloud keeps footage safe off site. Many businesses use both.

Can my security cameras add AI alerts or license plate recognition later?

Often, yes. AI video analytics on the Eagle Eye platform can be added to most existing camera systems, and license plate recognition works when cameras are placed and aimed to read plates at entrances and gates.

Five-star reviews from real customers

Clifton and Erica came to my property today to reconfigure our camera views. I emailed them late last night and Clifton was here first thing this morning. This company is outstanding and does exactly what they say they are going to do. Thank you Turner Security for always being responsive and professional.

Great products, great service, great price! We needed to establish a solid security setup for our small business that wouldn't break the bank. After getting quotes from a few providers, we went with Turner as they are locally owned and offer the same top-notch technologies as the bigger companies, only at a more competitive price. 24/7, Turner Security has us covered and we're so thankful!
